Al-Jahromi calls for Innovative Strategies Aligned with Global Trends
Al-Hawaj: Design as our Compass for Elevating Life Quality
Ahlia University, in collaboration with Woxsen University/India, hosted the International Scientific Conference on Inspiration and Innovative Design Trends at the Wyndham Grand Hotel – Manama. The event brought together Dr. Diana bint Abdul-Karim Al-Jahromi, Secretary General of the Higher Education Council, alongside prominent global experts, academics, professionals, researchers, and students from various universities in the region, particularly in the fields of interior design at both undergraduate and graduate levels.
In her opening remarks, Dr. Al-Jahromi emphasized the crucial role of higher education in fostering a knowledgeable society capable of addressing future challenges. She highlighted the importance of collaboration between educational institutions and the private sector, underscoring the need for new strategies that align with global advancements. “The goal of this conference is to facilitate the exchange of experiences and ideas to enhance the quality of higher education in our country,” she stated.
Following her address, Professor Abdulla Yousif Al-Hawaj, Founding President and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Ahlia University, spoke about the conference’s relevance to contemporary issues. He highlighted that the discussions would revolve around critical topics such as engineering innovations and how design can improve the quality of life. “This conference serves as an ideal platform to showcase the latest trends in design, focusing on how we can adapt these trends to address environmental and social challenges,” he noted.
“Design is not merely about aesthetics; it is a science that reflects the interaction between humans and their environment. We are here to spotlight how design can be leveraged to enhance quality of life,” he added. Professor Al-Hawaj expressed gratitude to all those involved in organizing the conference, with special thanks to Dr. Mohammad bin Mubarak Juma, Minister of Education, for his continuous support of educational development efforts.
Prof. Mansoor Aaali, President of Ahlia University, also highlighted the significance of the conference as a platform for knowledge exchange and creativity. He acknowledged the support of the Higher Education Council and its leadership, stating that the conference has received considerable attention with 54 peer-reviewed research papers presented, nearly half of which are from outside Bahrain, demonstrating the event’s international appeal. “Bahrain has become an attractive destination for creative and innovative minds,” he remarked, emphasizing that interior design is a science reflecting human-environment interaction.
