Cultivating Talents for Community Service

Ahlia University Library Hosts Professor Mukhtar Al Hashimi

During an event organized by Ahlia University Library, Professor Mukhtar Al Hashimi, VP for academic affairs, encouraged students to develop their talents and abilities to undertake projects that benefit both themselves and their community. He shared his experience in authoring several guiding books on personal development, inspired by suggestions he received through his online advice and guidance.

The discussion was part of the library’s initiative to promote the works of University faculty and staff under the theme “Author and Book.” Professor Al Hashimi highlighted seven of his published books and explained how he transitioned from writing articles in magazines to compiling them into a book format.

He emphasized the importance of two key elements in the book publishing process: the title and the cover. According to him, a captivating title is essential for attracting readers, while the cover serves as the first visual impression. He suggested that authors can use their images to engage their audience and that the content should consider the target readership, particularly younger generations, who prefer concise and summarized topics.

Professor Al Hashimi introduced his book “Let’s Talk Business,” which outlines simple steps for entering the business world. It addresses challenges such as family partnerships, leadership roles, negotiation techniques, and unique approaches to working with business partners. He also stressed the significance of building professional relationships to facilitate book publishing and business ventures.

Additionally, he discussed his book “My Experience and Self-Building,” which shares personal lessons and experiences aimed at helping readers build themselves to achieve success. The book contains practical advice to empower individuals facing challenges throughout their lives.

Al Hashimi’s writings address a diverse audience, including youth, business professionals, teachers, and students, while highlighting the crucial role of women in societal development. He stated, “Women are the spirit of civilization,” and acknowledged influential women in Islamic history, such as the wives of the Prophet Mohammed and notable figures like Rabia al-Adawiyya and George Sand. He advocates for women’s essential contributions to humanity, asserting that they are equal partners in the development of society.
